Introduction - 11.10.99 - 11.11.99 - 11.12.99 - 11.13.99 - 11.14.99 - Conclusion

Sunday night's show was in Chapel Hill, which allowed for some much needed rest. Mama K and I lost Jumanji and Goatboy for the show but picked up Gil for the ride. We pulled into Cat's Cradle about an hour before showtime, which gave us time to mingle with the crowd. I met a beautiful young lady that became my dancing partner for the evening. It's always nice to have that kind of energy around to feed off.

The stage set-up was back to normal, two drum kits and John (Jerry) next to the keyboards on stage right; a sure sign for an 80's or 90's show. The set opened with an energetic "Bertha > Greatest Story Ever Told." The following "Lazy River Road" gave away that this show was from the 90's. Highlights from this set included a rare "Ramble on Rose" and an inspired "Queen Jane Approximately." The rest of the set was fairly standard with a jumping "Promised Land" to cap it off.

Second set was possibly my favorite of the tour. After an opening "Liberty," Mike (Bobby) opened things up with the best "Corinna" I've heard. The ensuing "Crazy Fingers" laid a nice foundation for the rest of the set. The highlight from this set had to be the "Wheel > I Need a Miracle > Morning Dew" out of drumz. This is one of the best post drumz combinations the Dead used in the 90's. The "Morning Dew" exploded and was played with great pride and deliberate well-balanced intensity. "US Blues" was the encore which truly made Mama K happy. This show was from February 21, 1993 at the Oakland Coliseum. Since there was some extra time, DSO broke into a full "Terrapin Station > Playin' Reprise." I don't really know what to say...it really left me speechless.
