For those of you unfamiliar with Dark Star Orchestra, let me explain what they do: They pick a Grateful Dead show and play it in its entirety. Before this tour I had seen three DSO shows and walked away awe struck and wanting more. I could not believe what I was hearing. They really sounded like the Dead; from bass to drums to lead guitar to vocals...they really had it down. Well, once I heard they were coming through for a tour I knew what I had to do. Pack up the van and get on the road to see what the experience was like. Of course it wouldn't be like touring with the Dead; no shakedown street, no miracle tix and no kind veggie burritos. But what about the music and more importantly the energy?
