This week the local event magazine ESP features the Jomeokee on the cover and a couple of pages of coverage including copious quotes from Folkswaggin' Hammond player extraordinaire Dave McCracken. Pick one up if you can. There will be a link to the web posting from ESP at http://www.folkswaggin.com. Also in the Thursday City Life section of The Greensboro News and Record there will be a special section on the Jamboree featuring a piece by yours truly and a photo of some crazy hippie. I'll post a link at Lonely Goat once the GN&R is posted online too. In light of all of this attention, I want to send a shout out to Jay at Ziggy's for making the big leap with this festival. Let's get out there for some of this great music and support the Jam scene in NC. Be sure to swing by http://www.jambase.com this week for a new contribution from Lonely Goat. Dennis Humphries, who has authored a few pieces for Lonely Goat in the past, has agreed to start providing some 'weekend planner' type notes to Jambase. Cheers to Dennis for running with this idea and helping to promote kind music in NC. The Home Grown Music Network has announced the release of a new cd from Phoenix Presents. The Furthur date has been moved to Thursday at an indoor facility in Columbus. The bus is a hot topic these days. Remember the money deadline is July 31 to reserve a seat, but don't wait until then if you don't have to. There is always the possibility that the bus will fill up before that time. Important news about Ziggy's Jomeokee Jamboree! The event has been moved to the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds. All tickets purchased remain valid and no ticket information has changed. Get full details at http://www.ziggyrock.com. I'm excited to announce another camping event in North Carolina. Check out the Hookland Extravaganza September 29&30 in Snow Camp. T-Dawg's Productions are serving up the good stuff you've come to expect. Check out the website at http://www.harvestfest2000.com. That's a new web address for those of you with old T-Dawg bookmarks. Tickets for this event go on sale this Friday so take advantage of the early discounts. They are also currently accepting volunteer applications online at the above website. Give them a hand if you can. A festival of this magnitude needs a lot of volunteers and you could save a little cash. You may have wondered about the whereabouts of David Via & Corn Tornado since Smilefest. Via has been out west with Larry Keel, John Flowers has been in Tibet, and Fiddly Dave has been in Latvia. I just want to announce that I've posted a page with all of the Hookahville Fall 2000 Bus Trip information. You can reach it from the main Lonely Goat page. I'll also fuel the rumor that the Furthur festival will be at Hookahville as well during our trip. Let me say clearly that this has not been confirmed by the Hookahville authority, but the Buckeye Lake website seems to think it is happening. As you can guess, I'll make sure to pass it along when it is confirmed. |
